TECHNICAL WRITER

Position Overview:

As a Technical Writer, your primary responsibility will be to translate complex engineering documentation and design information into various technical guides and manuals that contribute to the overall success of our products and our dealers. You will create, maintain and update instructions, owner’s and service manuals, and other technical materials for all Companies' products while ensuring adherence to branding guidelines.

Responsibilities:

Must be able to…

  • Create and update instructions for kits/accessories, directions for products, safety standards, owner’s and service manual content, and parts catalogs
  • Create or update illustrations and photographs for technical materials or videos
  • Understand and communicate using brand standards and style guides in created documents
  • Gather necessary input from Engineering, Operations and Service or any cross-functional team
  • Assist in creating material for internal and external training
  • Organize and manage technical document reviews with representatives from Engineering, Service, Operations, Applications and Product Management
  • Use standardized templates for technical documentation, process flows and design specifications
  • Partner with Engineering, Safety and Marketing teams to plan and deliver product documentation on-time and on-budget
  • Create, review and publish articles for the Online Support Center
  • Edit documentation for content, clarity, grammar and flow
  • Other duties as assigned or required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree or relevant work experience
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Demonstrate strong writing, editing and formatting expertise with a high degree of attention to detail while meeting deadlines
  • Innovative and creative mindset
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills
  • Composed during stressful situations
  • Work efficiently with the ability to prioritize daily workload
  • Collaborate and build excellent working relationships with cross-functional teams
  • Basic understanding of mechanical procedures and using hand tools

Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria:

  • Technical writing experience
  • SolidWorks or SolidWorks Composer experience helpful
  • Familiarity with operating outdoor power equipment
  • Familiarity with outdoor furnaces

Physical Requirements such as below:

  • Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, repetitive hand, wrist and arm motion while using a computer and phone
  • May require operating hand tools to assemble/disassemble parts
