Position Overview:

The Design Engineer is responsible for creating innovative solutions and solving problems while playing a central role in the design, development, and implementation of state-of the-art products. This not only includes new designs but also updates to current designs and processes. In this role, you will work on multiple projects at the same time and ensure that designs meet all necessary design responsibilities.

To be successful in this role, you should have a passion for leading the full design process and creating innovative products that are well received by customers. You should demonstrate strong technical knowledge along with excellent problem solving, communication, interpersonal, leadership, and project management skills.

Responsibilities:

Must be able to:

  • Research, design, develop and optimize new products
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities for existing products and processes
  • Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability
  • Deliver products that exceed customer needs and are well received in the market
  • Design, prototype and test new and exciting components, accessories and products
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturing, technical and customer requirements
  • Manage multiple complex projects at the same time
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Marketing in the implementation of new products
  • Plan effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard and to budget
  • Identify new systems and processes to drive quality, efficiency and save costs
  • Ensure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified and varied operating environments
  • Support development testing and the manufacturing production process
  • Manage projects using engineering principles and techniques
  • Thoroughly understand all Companies’ products
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Minimum/Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant technical degree with equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling software, SolidWorks preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and demonstrate attention to quality, timeliness, awareness of budget constraints, and other programmatic considerations
  • Flexible and able to adapt to change
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities, strong sense of responsibility and self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Effective communication to liaise with team members and others involved in the design and implementation process
  • Read and interpret engineering specifications
  • Promote and follow all company safety guidelines and initiatives
  • Familiar with procedures in the manufacturing area such as welding, machining, and assembly
  • Represent the company in a professional friendly manner

Preferred Qualifications/Selection Criteria:

  • Previous mechanical design experience helpful
  • Experience with SolidWorks preferred
  • Experience with sheet metal design preferred

Physical Requirements such as below:

  • May spend parts of the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen, performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head and other parts of the body. May include standing, sitting, squatting, walking, kneeling, stooping, crouching and reaching out to arm’s length, reaching over-head, lifting up to 55 pounds and using hand tools as needed.
